The Oregon Network Finance Officer will work from Adventist Health Portland, and have financial accountabilities for Adventist Health Tillamook and Adventist Health Columbia Gorge.

Job Summary:

The finance officer is a senior financial leader for Adventist Health with specific financial accountabilities for key markets, facilities and system-wide functions. As a member of the senior financial leadership team, this role supports the long-term sustainability of the Adventist Health organization by managing the financial position and performance of the system across markets, facilities and business models. This role provides leadership and direction to strategies, tactics, long-range forecasting, and overall efforts to continually improve the operations and financial results of Adventist Health. The position partners with key market and facility leadership to establish financial objectives and strategies that allows Adventist Health to accomplish its mission and vision by ensuring leaders have appropriate financial information to make informed decisions and monitor progress towards established financial objectives and strategies. Specific responsibilities include managing and directing the financial planning and forecasting, budgeting, decision support, financial liquidity and position, productivity metrics and reporting, capital affordability and stewardship and reimbursement strategies. Serve as a key member of the facility and market senior management team on overall strategies.

Job Requirements:

Education and Work Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance or other relevant field: Required
• Master's Degree in Business Administration: Preferred
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive financial/accounting leadership experience in managing finance, accounting, budgeting, controls, analysis and reporting in an integrated delivery system organization: Required

Licenses/Certifications:

• Certified Public Accountant: Preferred

Essential Functions:

• Leads strategic, capital, and tactical planning by creating standards and processes that balance financial management with long-term strategy. Monitors the company’s progress toward achieving growth, revenue, and operating expense goals as well as business unit performance goals. Serve as a strategic business partner to business owners internally, including driving financial accountability through all areas and ensuring that the company meets objectives. As part of the senior finance team, work to proactively identify, recommend, and implement strategic and operational enhancements to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the organization.
• Understands service line strategies and collaborates with operations and medical staff to create patient-centered services that support a sustainable financial position.
• Advises leaders in a consultative role. Identifies and assesses emerging trends and conditions to educate the leadership team of potential scenarios that could impact the strategies and financial performance of the company.
• Works in concert with key executive leaders to set rate and growth targets in annual plans and the long-range financial model. Participates in the strategy and planning and other management committees that shape and communicate Adventist Health mission, vision, and values. Oversees the financial viability of business plans and minimizes the opportunity for financial risk or exposure. Provides leadership and direction in the ongoing assessment of strengths and weaknesses of financial strategies and processes and implement steps to improve them. As a financial leader, responsible for financial results and accountable for coordinating comprehensive financial management of the organization.
• Ensures compliance with internal controls, and state and federal requirements, accuracy of financial reporting, financial planning and reimbursement activities, and reserves to adequately safeguard the assets of the organization. Cooperates with internal and external auditors in their review of accounting procedures and records.
• Collaborates with system shared service departments of revenue cycle, real estate, managed care, finance, accounting, and other departments to optimize financial performance. Participates in industry peer groups and corporate meetings to stay informed on new regulations and related issues.
• Builds and maintains collaborative partnerships with clinical, financial, and operational leadership in a highly collaborative decision-making approach to achieve the proper balance between quality of care/service and fiscal discipline. Establishes role as a key thought partner with key leaders across the organization and the partner sought out to help with decision-making.
• Recruits, selects, and retains highly qualified professionals who demonstrate Adventist Health values. Provides the participatory leadership to the finance staff necessary to maintain a motivated, productive, and competent team through open communication and collaboration. Guides and directs associates in their personal and professional development. Instills a collaborative approach to associates’ interactions within the group and across the organization. Leads team building, quality of work-life and staff development efforts within the finance functions. Actively participates in the business development, merger and acquisition process, including financial due diligence, risk assessment, and the subsequent integration of projects/acquisitions.

The estimated base pay for this position is $419,000 to $524,000. Base pay is only a portion of the total rewards package, and a comprehensive benefits program is available for qualifying positions. Please contact our Talent Acquisition team for more information.
