Position Summary:
The Funeral Director’s Assistant provides support to funeral directors in all aspects of funeral service operations. This role involves assisting with the preparation, coordination, and execution of funeral services, as well as ensuring families and visitors receive compassionate, professional care during a difficult time. The assistant also helps with inventory, transportation, and general facility upkeep.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist funeral directors in conducting funeral services.

Provide respectful care and assistance to grieving families and visitors.

Assist with the preparation of decedents for viewing, visitation, or services (under supervision).

Set up chapels and visitation rooms including floral arrangements, audio/visual equipment, and seating.

Drive funeral vehicles (hearse, limousine, service cars) during processions and services.

Maintain cleanliness, organization, and readiness of facilities, vehicles, and equipment.

Handle and organize inventory.

Provide general support to funeral home staff as needed.

Qualifications:

Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.

Ability to lift, move, and transport decedents and funeral equipment safely.

Strong interpersonal skills with compassion, empathy, and professionalism.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and composure in sensitive situations.

Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Physical demands include standing for long periods, lifting, carrying, and occasional exposure to varying weather conditions.
