An Industrial Shop Helper provides general support by performing maintenance and cleaning, organizing tools and materials, assisting technicians with equipment, and ensuring a safe work environment. Key duties include loading/unloading items, maintaining inventory, operating basic tools, and adhering to company safety protocols. Requires physical capability, a strong work ethic, and the willingness to learn, sometimes involving basic mechanical aptitude and communication skills. 

Key Responsibilities

• Maintenance & Housekeeping: Keeping the shop, office, and surrounding areas clean, organized, and in good repair. This includes emptying trash, cleaning equipment, and potentially mowing yards. 
• Material Handling: Safely loading and unloading tools, supplies, equipment, and materials using forklifts or other equipment. 
• Assisting Technicians: Supporting mechanics and technicians with hands-on tasks, including equipment assembly, disassembly, inspection, and basic repairs. 
• Inventory Management: Helping with inventory counts, stocking spare parts, and reporting discrepancies to ensure sufficient supplies are available. 
• Tool & Equipment Operation: Using basic hand tools, power tools, and potentially operating cleaning equipment. 
• Safety Compliance: Following all company safety protocols and procedures, wearing appropriate PPE, and reporting any hazards or unsafe conditions. 
• Documentation: Accurately completing required checklists and reports to document tasks and inventory. 

Skills & Qualifications

• Physical Stamina: The ability to perform manual labor, stand, walk, and lift objects up to 50 pounds. 
• Communication: Proficient verbal and written communication skills to understand instructions and communicate with team members. 
• Teamwork: A strong team player who can work collaboratively with others to support shop operations. 
• Willingness to Learn: An entry-level position that often provides training, requiring a strong work ethic and eagerness to learn new skills. 
• Basic Tools & Mechanical Aptitude: Familiarity with basic hand tools and the potential for developing basic mechanical skills. 

Working Conditions

• Environment: Work may occur both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions, sometimes in noisy or dusty environments. 
• Physical Demands: Extended periods of standing, walking, bending, and occasional climbing, balancing, or crouching are required. 
• Hazard Exposure: May involve exposure to moving equipment, vibration, extreme temperatures, fumes, and sparks, necessitating the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
