Job Description

Job Title: Internal Auditor Overview: A mission-driven healthcare organization is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Internal Auditor to join its leadership team. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), this role plays a critical part in strengthening internal controls, risk management practices, and governance processes. The Internal Auditor will evaluate key operational and financial systems, identify root causes of challenges, and provide strategic recommendations for improvement. Key Responsibilities: Develop and implement audit plans and tailored work programs to assess operational, administrative, and financial systems. Conduct fieldwork and analyze organizational processes to ensure effectiveness and compliance. Identify findings and root causes and present detailed reports with actionable recommendations to the CEO and Board committees. Collaborate with leadership to improve workflows and drive process enhancements. Maintain documentation and records aligned with auditing standards and regulations. Required Qualifications: Master’s degree in Finance, Business, or Public Administration. CPA (Certified Public Accountant) required. Minimum of 2 years of related auditing experience in healthcare or public service settings. Strong analytical skills with deep understanding of auditing methodologies and tools. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Familiarity with healthcare information systems and regulatory compliance related to Medicaid, Medicare, and New York State Public Health and Mental Hygiene Laws preferred. Additional Requirements: Flexibility to work outside standard business hours. Willingness to travel up to 100% to clinic and community locations.
