We are currently hiring a Nurse Educator II, Allergy with a passion for education and clinical excellence to serve as a nurse trainer to support our Los Angeles, San Diego & Arizona allergy clinics. This role is focused on developing and delivering comprehensive training programs for clinical staff, ensuring best practices in patient care, allergy testing, immunotherapy, and emergency protocols. This individual plays a key role in making sure all team members are comfortable and competent in performing allergy skin testing, administering allergy shots, and handling various allergic conditions. The scope of this role includes managing multi-site training and may supervise junior educators and trainers.

Key Responsibilities

Curriculum Development:

  • Develops and updates training materials, including presentations, handouts, and practical exercises, ensuring they align with current clinical guidelines and best practices.
Instruction and Mentorship:

  • Delivers comprehensive training sessions to staff, offering instruction and mentorship on allergy testing procedures, immunotherapy techniques, patient education, emergency protocols, and effective use of the EMR system (ModMed) to ensure high-quality, consistent clinical care.
Skills Assessment and Evaluation:

  • Evaluates staff competency in core skills, providing feedback and guidance to ensure proficiency in performing tasks like skin testing, vial preparation, and administering allergy shots.
Clinical Practices & Procedures:

  • Ensure that clinical practices meet the highest standards in allergy and asthma care, including the ability to become proficient in Spirometry, FeNO testing, nebulization/inhaled treatments, allergy testing, and allergy immunotherapy injections.
  • Oversee clinical procedures, ensuring that staff follow best practices and regulatory guidelines for patient care.
  • Take responsibility for maintaining the safety and quality of care delivered in the antigen lab, adhering to proper mixing guidelines, sterilization and infection prevention protocols.
Emergency Preparedness:

  • Trains staff on recognizing and managing allergic reactions, including the use of emergency medications and procedures.
Continuous Improvement:

  • Identifies areas for improvement in training programs and clinical practices, implementing changes to enhance staff competence and patient safety.
Collaboration & Travel:

  • Works closely with physicians, clinical staff, and other healthcare professionals to ensure training programs are aligned with clinic goals and best practices.
  • This role requires travel between clinic locations to deliver in-person training, support staff development, and ensure consistent clinical standards across all sites.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements

Education & Licensure:

  • Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with preferred experience in allergy or immunology.
  • California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) to practice in California.
Experience:

  • 25 years of clinical nursing experience with leadership or management experience.
  • Experience in an allergy clinic setting is preferred.
  • Nursing: 2+ year (Preferred)
Skills & Abilities:

  • Demonstrated interest in education and training within the allergy or clinical care space, with a passion for helping others build competence and confidence in patient care practices.
  • Strong knowledge of allergy conditions, testing procedures, and immunotherapy.
  • Excellent communication, teaching, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in using electronic medical records (EMR) systems and other clinical software.
  • Ability to handle confidential patient information with discretion.
Physical Requirements

  • Lifting: Average weight is 525 pounds for a distance up to 4 feet, occasionally.
  • Bending: Occasionally.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time, with intermittent shift lengths up to 8 hours.
  • Normal vision (or corrected vision) and hearing.
