Barton Associates is seeking an experienced OB/GYN Physician Assistant for an 84-day locum tenens position at a hospital in California. Starting on 06/02/2025, this assignment offers a flexible schedule of 2-3 days per week, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The ideal candidate will be proficient in providing comprehensive women's health services, including low-risk antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum care, pre-conception counseling, family planning, routine gynecology, and well-woman care. Additional skills required include IUD and Nexplanon insertion/removal, endometrial biopsy, colposcopy, and first-trimester ultrasound dating. This role utilizes the Cerner EMR system and offers the potential for extension beyond the initial 84-day period.

Job Responsibilities and Duties:
Perform comprehensive patient medical history, physical exams, and initial obstetric evaluations
Provide ongoing low-risk prenatal care from initial visit through delivery
Deliver postpartum care, including family planning counseling
Conduct well-woman exams and provide preventative care services
Perform and interpret routine laboratory and diagnostic tests
Review lab and diagnostic results with patients, including follow-up on abnormal findings
Provide STD and HIV testing, treatment, and referrals as needed
Perform gynecological procedures such as IUD/Nexplanon insertion/removal, endometrial biopsy, and colposcopy
Conduct first-trimester ultrasound dating
Identify high-risk obstetric issues and communicate with OB-GYN physicians for care transfers
Provide patient education and health counseling
Maintain accurate and timely medical records using Cerner EMR system
Complete and submit coded charges for patient encounters
Prescribe medications as per protocol under physician supervision
Additional Information:
California physician assistant license required
Experience in OB/GYN and women's health services essential
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a healthcare team
Comfortable with a flexible work schedule
